Most Recent Projects
Jeff has spent the first half of this year recording material with his latest band 'Night Sky Pirates', you can check them out on all good streaming platforms. Five songs up so far, with more to come.
Alex has the second album by his 'Lunar78' duo released on all good streaming platforms. Entitled 'Twin Planet' it has 11 songs in 38 minutes and is a mellower, mostly semi acoustic collection compared to the rockier debut.
Gary has released his first solo album entitled 'Permission Granted' on June 27th, nineteen tracks (mostly duets) across 55 minutes.

Warfare, Tank and Lemmy
Alex has recently interviewed Evo, drummer singer from Warfare, and written three features on Metal Talk website. The first couple were a review feature and an interview based on the recent box set CD release 'The Lemmy Sessions' which includes songs produced by the Motorhead frontman and other gems. The third was done a couple of weeks later in tribute to Evo's friend and musical collaborator Algy Ward of Tank and The Damned, who sadly died.
The various albums of music made by Evo, Algy and Lemmy, together and separately, was punk/metal crossover years before The Eruptors did a similar thing. Alex was therefore honoured to be able to interview Evo about these tropics and in these circumstances.
Respect to the guys who did it first!

Cart & Horses - Wasted Year 2020
Alex Eruptor has written sleeve notes to a new album celebrating the early roots of Iron Maiden, a fundraiser for a new downstairs music venue at the east London pub where 'Maiden and many other great bands played some of their earliest shows: Cart & Horses, in Stratford.
Former Iron Maiden members and a few special friends have teamed up to create this outstanding album. They have donated their songs to support Cart & Horses during this hard time that all music venues are going through.

Tin Pan Alley
Following some down time from The Eruptors forced by illness, Alex Eruptor is starting to get back into music, joining up with Paul Guerin (photo on the right, currently guitarist with The Quireboys, and Joe Elliott's Down n' Outz) and Kyle Suckling (ex-singer of Brian Robertson Clan) to play bass in a new side-project named Tin Pan Alley.
The first output is a fundraiser video for the National Health Service, based around Kyle's song 'Medicine Man'.
The video also features Paul's wife Trish , and was filmed around North Yorkshire and Ireland.
The guys are now also working on another song "Hold on You".

Eruptors In the Studio!
The Eruptors have been into the studio again to work on a new recording 'You Are Not Alone'. Most of the song is now recorded and we just need to get the lead vocals sorted, then get it mixed. Here's some photos from the rehearsal and recording sessions:

Burr Fest, London: Listen to The Prowler!
Latest update on V1, the band featuring former Iron Maiden singer Den Willcock and guitarist Terry Wapram, with Eruptors' drummer Gareth.
The show at Burrfest 2017 in London was a tremendous success. V1 played a lot of material from their album 'Armegeddon: End of the Beginning' and ended with a storming version of Iron Maiden classic 'Prowler'. Below is a clip filmed by Alex Eruptor who was also in attendance, having contributed the extensive sleeve notes to the CD booklet as well as writing for the V1 website, and the press release for the album (and helping out on the night as Gareth's drum roadie!)
Look carefully and you can see former Iron Maiden drummer Doug Sampson watching the show (right hand side of the clip, white t-shirt, back to the camera). Doug famously played on the version of Prowler recorded by Iron Maiden for their Soundhouse Tapes demo tape and EP. His current band Airforce headlined Burrfest 2017. With an audience comprising Doug Sampson and many former members of Iron Maiden's various 1970s line-ups and crew, it was a good job that Gareth nailed the drumming on the song!

V1 Album launched!

'Armageddon: End of the Beginning' is the debut album by rock band V1, featuring ex-Iron Maiden vocalist and guitarist Dennis Wilcock and Terry Wapram, bassists Chaz and Dwight, and Eruptors drummer Gareth Dylan Smith (known to The Eruptors as Gary de Niro!) .
Enjoy this clip (left hand column) of Gareth recording drums for the song 'V1 Rocket'. As reported here in October 2016, the album also includes contributions from Alex Eruptor, in the form of extensive sleeve notes in the accompanying booklet. This album really is a treat for fans of Iron Maiden and of The Eruptors and should also appeal to anyone who enjoys classic rock and NWOBHM heavy metal. V1 will appear at Burr-fest at The Lounge, Archway Rd, London N19. Also on the bill are other ex-Iron Maiden related acts including Airrace and Lizard. The event is a tribute to ex-Maiden drummer Clive Burr who had MS (multiple sclerosis) sadly passed away - proceeds from monies raised will go to the MS Action Fund which supported Clive. The Eruptors are back in the recording studio The news you have all been waiting for! The Eruptors have begun recording two songs 'Rock Steady' and 'Keep Your Eyes (On The Prize)' for release as a double A-side single. Following rehearsal at London's K-Town studios, The Eruptors swiftly checked into the studios at ICMP (also North London) to catch the vibe whilst it was still red hot. The Eruptors and V1 (ex-Iron Maiden)
Eruptors drummer Gareth has joined ex-Iron Maiden men Dennis Wilcock (vocals) and Terry Wapram (guitar) in the re-formed line-up of V1.
The original incarnation of V1 existed in the late 1970s after Terry and Dennis first left Iron Maiden. An album of original V1 demo recordings was released last year to critical acclaim.
The new line-up of V1 was formed in 2016 and also features bassist Dwight Wharton. Expect an album of new recordings entitled 'Armageddon: End of the beginning' later in 2016.
As well as dedicating his time to V1s imminent world domination, Gary will continue to also drum for The Eruptors (with studio time booked for late 2016!)
This is of course not the first time that The Eruptors have teamed up with former members of Iron Maiden. In 2011 Eruptors guitarist Alex wrote sleeve notes for the Thundersticks' album 'Echoes from the Analogue Asylum' (Heaven & Hell Records). Alex has also written website features and detailed interviews with other ex-Iron Maiden members such as Bob Sawyer/Rob Angelo (guitar) and Loopy (drum tech).

Gary de Niro's Book
Eruptors drummer Flamin' Gary de Niro has authored a book "I Drum, Therefore I Am" that will be published by Ashgate as part of their SEMPRE series on the psychology of music, and will be available to buy in March this year. He has authored it under the unlikely pen name of Gareth Dylan Smith, but we all know that his real name is Flamin' Gary de Niro.

Another Rhythm Magazine Article
The Eruptors are featured in a two page spread in the current issue of ‘Rhythm’ magazine. As part of his regular ‘Getting the Gig’ feature which has been running all year, Drummer Gary de Niro (aka Gareth Dylan Smith) provides a tutorial on how to nail TV sessions and music videos, using The Eruptors song ‘1 2 Tree 4’ as an example. You can read all about his experiences working as a pro drummer doing filmed work, his views on miming, and there’s a neat half page transcription of the drum part to ‘1 2 Tree 4’ for all of you drummers to jam along to. But that’s not all.....play the covermount CD on your computer and you can access video footage of Gary hammering away on his drums along to this glorious piece of rock history, showing you just how good he is at miming in the TV studio.....not an easy task given that no click-tracks were used when we recorded it (or indeed any of our albums!) Its all in issue 205, August 2012, Roger Taylor from Queen on the cover and some other cool stuff inside (Ramones, Thin Lizzy, etc). Hurry up while stocks last because the next issue is due out on July 31st!

Alex Eruptor writes sleeve-notes for Thunderstick
Alex Eruptor has written the sleeve notes essay for the new CD by Thunderstick. The album 'Echoes from the Analogue Asylum' was released by Heaven and Hell Records and is a compilation of Thunderstick's released and unreleased album tracks, EP tracks and demos.
Thunderstick was the eponymously titled band of nwobhm icon and ex-Samson and Iron Maiden drummer Thunderstick.
